Do you lie to yourself? In my 4 years being an Affiliate Marketer, the biggest lie I have heard is “I do not have time.”
I have heard people say, “I want to do something.” But, more often than not, the same people do not take action.
People say, “I want to write a blog post”, but postpone for whatever reason they say.
People say, “I want to create a landing page”, but do not as they are “technically challenged.”
People want to make money online through Affiliate Marketing, but do not want to create compelling content. They want everything instantly without putting in the effort.
There are many excuses or lies that people tell themselves that stop them from taking action and they end up living the same life, full of disappointments.
So, in this blog post, I will share 9 hard and piercing reasons why you lie to yourself and live a life of regret.
The General Behaviour

Do you want to make money online through Affiliate Marketing? 9 out of 10 reading this will say, “YES!”
But if I ask you to create content that helps people, provides value, solves problems, and helps them make a buying decision, 9 out of 10 will start to give excuses:
- I am not a good writer
- I am fluent in English
- I don’t have money
- I don’t have time
- I will start after my birthday 😀
3 birthdays pass by, yet you do not take action. You wait for some festival, some event, some occasion, etc.
What leaves me in splits is that you want to earn money, but you do not want to take action.
When you do not get results, due to a lack of effort, commitment, persistence, and consistency, you start to blame – blame people, blame situations, blame the laptop you use, blame how you look, etc.
What Should You Do Instead of Lying To Yourself And Giving Excuses?

If you are serious about making money from Affiliate Marketing, you MUST make a decision in one moment and start – IMMEDIATELY!
If you are married or in a relationship, you took only one moment to decide if he/she is the right person for you. Yes, you spent time, but whether or not you found the right person and you want to spend the rest of your life with them, you decide in one moment.
Similarly, if you seriously want to establish an Affiliate Marketing business, you must decide and start immediately.
It does not matter HOW BAD YOU ARE… Just start
It does not matter HOW TECHNICALLY CHALLENGED YOU ARE… Just start
It does not matter HOW NEW YOU ARE… Just start
What’s the worst that will happen? You will suck, that’s it!
But, the more you do something, the better you become. Becoming a great Affiliate Marketer is a process, just like cycling.
When you started cycling, you fell many times, you hurt yourself many times, and you lost control many times. But, the more you cycled, the better you became. With time you became a pro at cycling, isn’t it?
The same is the case with Affiliate Marketing – or anything that you want to accomplish. You will suck in the beginning, but gradually, you will start to get better, and one day, you will become the best, the master, the pro!
The Main Reason Why People Do Not Have The Courage To Take Action

According to my observation, you do not take action due to society’s pressure. You do not take action, because, if you fail, your neighbours will make fun of you, mock you, and judge you.
According to research, 92% of the world’s population fails because they do things to impress people – their neighbours, friends, social media followers, exes, etc.
If your actions are motivated by external forces, you will never achieve your goals. The burning desire to achieve something must come from within YOU!
You must do things that YOU love and are passionate about. If you do things to impress people, you will never be successful. People will always have something to say. Even if you are inducted into the Guinness World Records, people will have something to say.
So, stop thinking about what people will say and start to take control of your life and your actions.
What To Do If You CAN NOT Take Action?

If you want to achieve something, but cannot take action, introspect and identify the roadblocks that stop you.
When you feel stuck and lack the inspiration to take action, ask yourself:
- Why do I want to stop?
- What is stopping me?
- What are the roadblocks?
- What challenges am I facing?
The answers to all the above questions will help you identify what stops you. The answers you give to each question will be the excuses and lies you have been telling yourself.
Once you have the list of all the “roadblocks”, you can start taking action. More often than not, the list of roadblocks is merely a list of internal resistances:
- “I do not have time”
- “I cannot speak English”
- “I do not have money”
- Etc.
After creating the list, start to take action. As they say, “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.” If you want to do something, you will find a way, even if things are extremely difficult.
If you want something only to impress people, you will not find the internal motivation and, as a result, you will procrastinate.
So, identify the burning desire for something, and start working!
What Have You Been Procrastinating?

What is the one thing you always wanted to do, but did not?
Have you wanted to launch your website?
Have you wanted to start your YouTube channel?
Have you wanted to start your podcast?
Whatever it is that you wanted to do, do it! Do it first and then announce it. For example, when I wanted to start my podcast on Spotify, I started right away, and after posting a couple of episodes, I announced it on social media.
Always do something first and then announce it. When I wanted to start my Affiliate Marketing business, I launched my website, posted 7-8 blog posts and then told about it to my friends and family.
Become an action taker. TALKERS ARE MANY, DOERS ARE FEW. Become a doer. Become an implementor. I only follow mentors who are implementors. I only learn from those who take action.
Would you learn about Affiliate Marketing from someone who is on top, or from someone who is just beginning?
I always tell my students and I will say it here, “Become an Affiliate Marketer who you want to become like.”
If you complain about roadblocks, you will never make any real progress. What you focus on expands, so instead of focusing on the roadblocks, focus on the actions and goals.
9 Reasons You Have Been Lying To Yourself
According to observation, I created a list of the 9 lies you have been telling yourself that keep you away from your goals.
Reason #1: Fear Of Failure

The first reason or the first lie I hear people say is, “Sir, What if I fail?”
Look, Affiliate Marketing, like any other business, has its share of ups and downs. There is no business in this world where losses do not happen.
Ups and downs are bound to happen. Ups and downs keep you inspired. If you only see success, you will be bored.
In my 4 years being an Affiliate Marketer, I have lost money in ads, I spent hours writing a blog post and nobody read it, I recorded a brilliant video, but it was viewed for no more than 4 seconds, and nobody listened to my Spotify podcast for weeks, and there are many other occasions where I failed.
But did the failures stop me? Yes, I was disappointed, but I DID NOT STOP! I realised and accepted that failures are bound to happen.
If you watch cricket, have you seen any batter in history who scored a 100 in every match? Do you know any business tycoon who did not fail?
Failures are a part of the business. You are bound to fail, but if you stop, you will lose. A successful Affiliate Marketer is not gifted, he/she is a failure who tried one more time.
So, please accept that failures will happen, but you will LOSE only when you quit.
Reason #2: Uncertainty

The second reason why you lie to yourself is due to the uncertainty around the Affiliate Marketing business. You do not take action because you know there is a high probability of you making no money for a few months when you start Affiliate Marketing.
I made my first income in the 9th month of starting my business. I know you want to make money. However, if you desire to make money from the first day itself, you are setting yourself for something that happens only in fantasy movies.
So, when you start, and if you are serious to make Affiliate Marketing a career, you will have to wait for a long time to earn something noticeable.
Reason #3: Risks

You want to make money online, but you are afraid to take risks.
- What if I lose my money?
- What if my effort goes in vain?
- What if people do not buy from me?
If you quit in the first month, people will NEVER buy from you. It takes time to build your authority and brand.
When I tell my students that you have to invest money to run ads, their response is one of the two:
- “Sir, what if nobody buys?”
- “Sir, how many people will buy if I invest ₹1,000?”
Unfortunately, I do not know the answer. The answer lies in how well you craft your headlines, descriptions, and CTAs.
Losing money in ads is a part of Affiliate Marketing and if you ask any Super Affiliate, they will say they invested money in ads but did not get a single lead, or a single sale.
Investing money on the first day of your Affiliate Marketing career will not give you millions in sales. You have to work on your skills, create content, market your brand and products, establish awareness, solve problems, and then people will trust you.
If you are serious, you will take risks and won’t give up until you get your desired results. And tell me, what is the excitement of running a business, if you do not take risks?
Reason #4: Fear Of Competition

I have trained 152 people until now and about 40% of them have said, “Sir, there is already an Affiliate Marketer in my space who is earning millions every year. So, can I choose a niche where there is no competition?”
When there is competition, there is profitability. If you want to choose a market where you will have no competition, I am not sure you will find any.
Where there is competition, there is a market. Where there is competition, there is an opportunity, Where there is competition, there is income potential.
If you can do better than people who are doing well in your niche, won’t you become a master in that niche?
If you do better than people who are killing it, you will be known for your work.
If you do better than people who are killing it, you will establish your authority in that niche.
So, instead of focusing on your competition, focus on how you can do better. Focus on improving yourself. There is no one winner in any niche. I believe there is abundance and EVERYONE CAN WIN.
Improve your skills and forget about your competition. You want to become the first one in your niche, not any second master. So, ignore the competition and focus on how you can help your audience.
Reason #5: “I Do Not Have Money!”

Almost every human being does not have money when it comes to investing in their business. But, the funny thing is, the same people spend thousands on useless things to impress people in their locality and on social media.
One of my initial students told me that they do not have money and cannot invest in anything. The following day, I saw them waste thousands to show off their “branded item” on social media.
According to a motivational speaker, “People find pleasure in useless stuff and buying things they do not need.”
This could hurt you, but having observed people in my niche, I can say with certitude, that what the motivational speaker said is 100% true.
You do not have money to invest in things that matter, but magically spend thousands on useless stuff. If I ask you to invest in your learning, you will not have even ₹100, but if your friends ask you to waste ₹10,000 to impress someone, you will magically be ready to pay right away.
This is the biggest lie you have been telling yourself. Let’s say you have only ₹1,000. Can’t you spend ₹100 on your skills or learning new things?
The fact is: You HAVE MONEY, but you don’t want to invest in the right things.
Reason #6: “I Do Not Have The Skills!”

During your childhood, did you pick up a pen/pencil and started to write? No, you didn’t!
Your parents taught you how to hold a pencil and how to write alphabets and numbers. If you couldn’t write, they held your hand and helped you write, didn’t they?
When you start cycling, did you ride for 10 kilometres on the first day? Or did you fall many times and lost control many times? You fell on the first day, you fell on the second day, you fell on the third day, but, by the 100th day, you were able to ride well.
Similarly, if you want to master Affiliate Marketing, you will HAVE TO give yourself 4-5 months to develop the crucial skills.
The best Affiliate Marketer did not earn millions of dollars on the first day. They started, they fell, they learned, they improved, and started to get results. It did not happen overnight. It took months or even a couple of years.
So, if you do not have the required skills, take time to learn, be passionate, and with time, you will start to become better.
Reason #7: “I Am Technically Challenged!”

Initially, I conducted 1-on-1 coaching sessions every day. One of my first students used the phrase “I am technically challenged!” in every second sentence they spoke.
Not only did it annoy me, but it also showed how much they lied to themself. You are not technically challenged, when you say the sentence, “I am technically challenged!”, you are saying, “I cannot set up systems and I will not put any effort to learn.”
“I am technically challenged!” is your way of saying that you do not want to learn. Nobody Affiliate Marketer is a born funnel creator, website designer, content creator, and landing page creator. They invest time in learning “technical skills.”
If you are saying, “I am technically challenged!” in a world wherever every solution exists on YouTube and Google, you lying to yourself. You are hiding your lack of effort, lack of commitment, and laziness in those words.
Platforms like WordPress provide you with themes and plugins that help you launch your website in hours. Funnel-building platforms tools like CartFlows and ClickFunnels, help you set up your funnel in minutes.
Thanks to technical platforms, things are becoming easy and if you still believe that you are technically challenged, you are lying only to yourself.
Once you change your mindset and learn things, you will become best friends with technology.
Reason #8: “I Cannot Speak English!”

Rookie Affiliate Marketers believe if they have to be successful, they must speak English like a native. When I ask them about their target audience, almost everybody says, “America and Europe.”
When I ask why are they targeting the two continents, they say, “Because we want to earn in dollars.”
Nice point, but a mistake they make is misjudging the market size. The market size in India is far more extensive than any other market in the world.
According to Statista, India had more than 749 million Internet users which is expected to grow to more than 1.5 billion by 2040. India was also ranked second in the largest online market worldwide in 2019.
Since India has a huge market, you can still run an Affiliate Marketing business in your native language if you do not speak English.
According to the 2011 census:
Rank | Language | Spoken By % Of The Population |
---|---|---|
1st | Hindi | 43.63% |
2nd | Bengali | 8.03% |
3rd | Marathi | 6.86% |
4th | Telugu | 6.70% |
5th | Tamil | 5.70% |
6th | Gujarati | 4.58% |
7th | Urdu | 4.19% |
8th | Kannada | 4.37% |
9th | Odia | 3.10% |
10th | Malayalam | 2.88% |
The population of India On September 2022 was more than 141 crores (1.41 billion). If you find the number of Hindi speakers in India, it will be 61.5 crores. If you only consider the population of India who speaks Hindi, it will be almost twice the entire population of the USA (33.5 crores).
So, you have a greater potential of making money within India itself!
With that being said, if you still complain about not being able to speak English fluently, you are merely lying to yourself and avoiding taking action. Now, you know clearly that you can run a business in Hindi, so will you take action?
You can run an Affiliate Marketing business in any language provided you are serious and an action-taker. People who are doing Affiliate Marketing only for money will always find excuses.
Reason #9: “I Have No Support & Guidance!”

In my 4 years as an Affiliate Marketer, I have realised, that you can get mentorship, but you will have to push yourself.
Many beginners, even experienced Affiliate Marketers, complain about not having support. Let me share the truth: Nobody is coming to save you. You will have to stand up for yourself.
Many Affiliate Marketers cry that their parents don’t support them. Well, if you have the potential, they will never cry. But, if they are crying, that means… 😉
If you are serious about making Affiliate Marketing your full-time career, you will take action, work hard, and be committed, irrespective of people’s support. If you want it badly and if you have a burning desire, you will make things happen.
If you are a beginner, you will work on developing the required skills, you will post valuable content, and you will provide value to your audience. Nothing stops you when you are passionate and want to seriously achieve something. It takes time, but you eventually achieve it.
However, if you are not committed and want shortcuts, you will always be desperate and fall prey to SOS (Shiny Object Syndrome).
Conclusion
