How do you know the pain points of your audience? How can you find out the challenges your target audience is facing?
The biggest problem that Affiliate Marketers face is that they create content randomly without knowing what their audience wants. So even if they create compelling content, they are not able to get the desired results.
Why?
Because they did not put in the effort to know and understand what their audience wants.
So, to help you out, I will share the top 6 methods to find out the challenges, problems, pain points, and goals of your target audience.
Connecting With The Target Audience
More often than not, understanding the challenges and problems of your target audience is a daunting task.
But what if I tell you that it does not have to be that way?
Just like any relationship in life, creating a genuine, meaningful, and long-lasting connection with your target audience or potential customers takes time and a lot of effort.
But once you do create a relationship, you will begin to see the positive impact on your Affiliate Marketing business.
So, how can you create an unbreakable relationship with your audience?
By understanding their challenges!
Now, you will ask: How can I find the challenges of my target audience?
To help you out, I will share the top 6 methods to find out the challenges, problems, pain points, and goals of your target audience.
Method 1: Google Search

The first method to find out the problems your target market might be facing is Google. Go to Google and type:
“Challenges faced by <<target market>>”
Or you can type:
“<<target market>> challenges”
Both search queries will give you the same content.
Many people have written detailed posts about the problems people face in every industry or niche and those blog posts will provide you with a fair idea of what your audience might be facing and wanting solutions for.
Once you have a list of challenges faced by your audience, you can create content on each one of them.
A few months ago, I did the same exercise. I opened Google and typed, “Challenges faced by Affiliate Marketers.”
I went through 7-8 blog posts and made a long list of the challenges my audience faces. Then, each challenge became a topic of my blog post, YouTube video, and podcast.
According to me, this is the easiest way to find out what challenges your target market has and through this exercise only, you will be able to get a lot of content ideas.
I do this exercise every 14-15 days and it has helped, this single exercise has helped me create a list of 215 challenges. I publish 2 blog posts every week, hence, I have enough content ideas for over 102 weeks, which is about 2 years of content ideas.
Method 2: Quora

The second platform for finding the pains and challenges of your target audience is Quora. Go to Quora and type your niche-related keywords.
You will find plenty of questions asked by people related to the problem they might be facing. You can use those questions as topics for your blog posts, YouTube videos, and podcasts.
Method 3: Social Media

The third platform to find challenges is Social Media. You can join groups related to your niche on Facebook and observe content and questions posted by group members.
Almost every post is a problem that needs a solution. So when you come across such posts, you can create content to help them, solve their problems, and provide value.
Since I am an Affiliate Marketer, I joined groups related to Affiliate Marketing on Facebook, about 10-12 groups. I do not post there but whenever a member posts a question, I answer in short and note it down in my list of challenges or as I call it, “Content Bank.”
Since these questions were asked by the target market, it will be more valuable rather than some random topic.
And when you create such content it helps you in two ways.
- You will instantly generate traffic as you address your audience’s challenges and pain points.
- Since you answered the question in a blog post, YouTube video, or podcast, your audience will realise and appreciate the effort you put in to create content to help them overcome their challenge or problem.
Method 4: Online Communities

If you were amazed by the power of Social Media for finding the challenges of your audience, this point is going to blow your mind!
Within online communities, people actively interact with each other. There are many communities for Affiliate Marketers where people like you and me hang out, interact, and ask questions.
Reddit is a prime example of an active community where you will find people discussing almost everything and Affiliate Marketing happens to be one such hot topic.
So head over to online communities, find questions asked by people and prepare a solution in the form of a blog post, YouTube video, or podcast.
Online communities are a great source of content and if you can learn how to tap into the power of online communities, you will create magnificent content that helps your audience.
Method 5: Polls & Surveys

Many organizations and Affiliate Marketers have conducted polls and surveys before asking their audience about their challenges and pain points.
You can utilise them to find the challenges and solutions. Polls and surveys help you to sketch out a plan for creating content and completely rule out the assumption, “I think this is what they think, I think this is what they want.”
According to my experience, a survey helps you better understand your audience as it gives insights into what challenges they face.
Once you know their challenges, you can create profound content that is focused on solving their problems.
Method 6: Ask Them Yourself

If you can, interact directly with your audience. Every week, I conduct two 1-on-1 coaching calls with people who want to start and grow their Affiliate Marketing business.
During the 1-on-1 session, I ask them about their challenges, the areas where they need help, and their goals.
I note everything they share and since it came directly from my target audience, I know it will perform much better than some topics I researched on the Internet.
A few weeks ago, during a 1-on-1 session, a student asked me how they can manage their money. I answered their question then and there and got a topic for my blog post that my audience wanted a solution for.
I look at it this way if one of them has a question, many of them would have the same question.
So every doubt of theirs becomes a topic of my blog post, YouTube video, or podcast.
And when they see that I created content to answer their doubt, they feel appreciated and stick with me for longer.
