Do you want to make money online through Affiliate Marketing? Although Affiliate Marketing is a $12-billion industry, 95% of Affiliate Marketers quit and 7 out of 10 earn nothing!

A big mistake that Affiliate Marketers – especially beginners – make is that they spam their affiliate links everywhere. So, if you want to make Affiliate Marketing work for you, you should stop spamming affiliate links immediately and do the things I will share in this post!

What Is Spamming?

What Is Spamming

According to Wikipedia, “Spamming is the use of messaging systems to send multiple unsolicited messages (spam) to large numbers of recipients for the purpose of commercial advertising or simply repeatedly sending the same message to the same user.”

So if you have been posting your affiliate links blindly in YouTube comments, Facebook posts, WhatsApp messages, personal messages, and emails, you have been spamming affiliate links.

According to me, any link sent randomly to people with the anticipation of getting sales is spam.

You cannot send messages to random people and expect them to buy. To generate quality leads and sales, you’d need to perform audience research and create content that caters to their needs.

Why Do You Spam Affiliate Links?

Many of my students told me that they blindly post affiliate links in YouTube comments, Facebook posts, WhatsApp messages, personal messages, and emails because some “guru” has told them so.

As the definition of Affiliate Marketing goes, “Affiliate Marketing is the process of promoting someone else’s products and if people buy through your affiliate link, you will make a commission.”

Beginners in Affiliate Marketing feel that spamming links is a promotion strategy. Affiliate Marketing is a serious business and “gurus’ tricks” do not work in the long run. You might get results once or twice, but if you plan to make spamming your primary marketing strategy, you are inspiring yourself to be a one-campaign wonder.

The top Affiliate Marketers spend hours on content research, content creation, audience research, marketing, targeting, creating and promoting lead magnets, and so on.

Stop Spamming Affiliate Links & Do This Instead!

Now that you know why spamming affiliate links does not work, I will share a simple step-by-step approach to Affiliate Marketing that can work for you!

(1) Find Helpful Products

Product Selection

I’ll not beat around the bush here. You should find products that help your audience. People do not want products, people want solutions.

So, whatever niche you are in, please find products that will help your audience, provide them with value, and solve their problems.

Although saying “find helpful products” is easier said than done, you can find helpful products on the following platforms:

To help you out, I have posted a video on my YouTube channel where I walk you through the steps of finding a product on DigiStore24.

Note: Although I am illustrating the steps on DigiStore24, they are pretty much the same on every platform.

(2) Create Compelling Content That Helps People

Content Creation

After finding the right product for your audience, take time to find information about it. Find everything that you can about the product including its benefits, drawbacks, and specifications.

Once you have some information, you can create content that contains a brief description of the product(s), its benefits, and drawbacks.

The content that you create must solve people’s problems and help them make a buying decision. Your content should help people decide if the product can help them overcome a problem they might be facing, okay?

In a nutshell, your product must answer people’s question, “What Is In It For Me?”

(3) Market Your Content

Promotion

Marketing is the activity of showing and advertising a company’s products in the best possible way. Marketing will help you reach your target audience, and tell them about your brand, products and services.

If you do not take the effort to promote your content, your target audience will not know anything about you and the products and services you offer.

To help you out, I will list the platforms I use to market my content.

Where Can You Market Your Content?

You can market your content on social media, emails, paid platforms, etc.

Platform 1: Facebook

You can promote your videos on Facebook posts, stories, direct messages, and so on. You can also join a group related to your niche and share your videos.

By posting in groups, I do not mean blindly posting the link. Write 3-4 lines telling people what the video is about and how they will get value from it.

Before posting anything anywhere, answer people’s question, “What Is In It For Me?”

Give people a reason to click on your link and watch your video or read your blog post, okay?

Platform 2: Instagram

The second platform where you can share your content is Instagram. The first approach to sharing content on Instagram is to put the link to your video in your ‘bio’ section.

The second approach is to update an Instagram story with 3-4 lines telling people about the video and then adding the link.

Platform 3: WhatsApp

You can follow the same approach for WhatsApp. Write 3-4 lines telling people what the content is about and how it will help them and then put the link, okay?

This was about marketing on social media.

Platform 4: Email List

You can follow the approach I mentioned for social media for emails. You can send emails to people describing your content and telling them what problem your blog or video solves and then add the link, alright?

You can create a lead magnet to encourage people to enter their details. A lead magnet is a free piece of information that is valuable and helps people. So, naturally, when people get something valuable for free, they give their names and emails in exchange for it, okay?

In my Email Marketing Challenge, I will walk you through the steps for creating a lead magnet, lead form, and email list.

I emphasise on email marketing, because, according to research, email marketing has a Return On Investment (ROI) of about 40x. That’s like investing $1 and making $41. So, if you’d like to skyrocket your sales and commissions, my Email Marketing Challenge is just for you!

Platform 5: Ads

The fifth platform to promote content is by running ads on Facebook or Google.

Running ads will cost you money, so if you think your content is powerful to attract sales, go ahead. Affiliate Marketing is a “free of cost” business is a myth and there are occasions where you would need to invest money, alright?
